Pax Rally – second fight of the "big three" in season 08!
During the past half of the season the manugacture teams made only one race all together. It was Central European Rally - first event of "Dakar Serie". Volkswagen and its crew Sainz/Perin celebrated a victory on that race.
But Mitsubishi and BMW X-Raid want revenge! So the second event of "Dakar Serie" - Pax Rally which will be held in Portugal from 9 till 14 of September will be definitively one of the major spoting event of the season.
Volkswagen announced their starting list on the Pax Rally. Three race diesel Touaregs piloting by Carlos Sainz/Michel Pйrin (E/F), Giniel de Villiers/Dirk von Zitzewitz (RSA/D) and Dieter Depping/Timo Gottschalk (D/D) will fight for the new victory in this season. This year Volkswagen win the race of FIA World CUp in Brasil and have the same number of points as Mitsubishi in official classification.
This race considered by Volkswagen as a training course before "Dakar" in South America and also as opportunity to compete with the main rivals - Motsubishi and BMW.
Mitsubishi due to the incident in Baja Spain (the diesel car was burned down) will have some difficulties now. The team pilot Luc Alphand told that the team was planning to start in the race with three cars. At the moment cinfirmed the participation of Luc Alphand and Stephane Peterhansel.
BMW X-Raid has more vehicles than its rivals, but still did not announce their starting list for Pax Rally. From the interviews on Baja Spain, Nasser Al-Attiyah and Russian Leonid Novitskiy confirmed their participation. Also BMW has O.Terranova and G.Chicherit.
Russian crew L.Novitskiy / O.Tyupenkin is taking a good form and Leonid is successfully adapting to the new car and its features. 4th overall in Baja Spain proved that they are one the right way. Team Director Sven Quand was delighted with results of his team. We wish Russian crew good luck and the new victories!
Registration for Pax Rally is open untill 29 of August. The route will laid from Lisbon to Portimao with 5 race days and about 1000 km of the special stages. Hurry up to becaome a part of this great sporting event!
